Flyers start holiday break even earlier as game vs. Capitals is postponed

The Flyers finished their morning skate Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Center believing they had one more game before the NHL-mandated holiday break.

Not long after, with some Capitals still on the ice in Philadelphia, the game was canned.

Because of COVID-related issues affecting Washington, the Flyers-Capitals game Tuesday night has been postponed. The makeup date is to be determined.

All tickets for Tuesday game will be valid once the rescheduled date is selected. Tuesday's ticket holders can also exchange their tickets for another regular-season game.

For those details, see below:

  • Flyers season-ticket members can exchange tickets for a different game through their online account.
  • Single-game ticket holders who purchased tickets through the Flyers will receive an email with instructions to exchange their tickets for a different game if they choose.
  • Ticket holders who purchased tickets through a third party must handle any exchanges with that third party.

The Flyers-Penguins game Thursday in Pittsburgh was called off Monday night when the NHL and NHLPA agreed to postpone all games scheduled for Thursday as coronavirus cases have piled throughout the league.

The Flyers have three players and two staff members in COVID protocol. Other teams are in far worse shape.

Following the holiday break from Wednesday through Saturday (Christmas Day), the Flyers are scheduled to have three days before their next game. They have a back-to-back road set Dec. 29-30 against the Kraken (10 p.m. ET/NBCSP) and Sharks (10:30 p.m. ET/NBCSP).

If the Flyers' schedule stays put, the club will have gone 10 days between games. The Flyers beat the Senators, 4-3, in overtime last Saturday and are 12-12-5 overall at the break. They'll head to Seattle on a season-best five-game point streak (4-0-1).
