After selecting two forwards with their first two picks, the Flyers finally addressed the defense at the 2018 NHL draft.

The Flyers on Saturday morning drafted Linköping HC defenseman Adam Ginning in the second round with the 50th overall pick at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Ginning is a 6-foot-4, 206-pound left-handed defenseman who finished as the fifth-rated international skater by NHL Central Scouting.

He's described as a big stay-at-home defenseman who's drawn comparisons to Edmonton Oilers defenseman Adam Larsson.

In 28 games with Linköping in 2017-18, Ginning had two points and 10 penalty minutes as a 17-year-old in the highest level of hockey in Sweden.

He served as captain for Team Sweden during the 2018 U-18 World Junior Championships and is a three-time medalist in international tournaments.

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said last week that he "would be shocked if we don't draft a couple of defensemen." He also said he's eying right-handed D-men.

Ginning checks one of those two boxes. The Flyers have their first blueliner of this draft. Expect more to come.

The Flyers have six picks left in the draft with their next being in the fourth round — 112th overall.
