The Chiefs players and coaches will receive their Super Bowl rings Tuesday night, and Reid was asked at his press conference earlier in the day what he plans to do with his ring.

“You wear it for special occasions,” he said. “Or if you want a free cheeseburger, you just point right there and show them that right and you might get one.”

The Chiefs beat the 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV in Miami in February, Reid’s first championship in 21 years as a head coach. He also won a Super Bowl as an assistant with Mike Holmgren’s Packers in 1996.
Reid, 62, is entering his 8th season with the Chiefs after 14 years with the Eagles, and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported earlier Tuesday that the Chiefs are finalizing six-year contract extensions for both Reid and general manager Brett Veach, who started out as a coaching intern under Reid with the Eagles in 2004.

If Reid coaches the full six years, he will have been a head coach for 28 years, which only four coaches have ever done - George Halas was a head coach for 40 years, Don Shula for 33, Curly Lambeau for 33 and Tom Landry for 29. Bill Belichick goes into his 26th year this fall.
Reid already has the 7th-most head coaching wins in history with 207. He’s averaged 11 wins per year with the Chiefs, and if he does that for another six years he’ll have 273 wins, which would place him 4th in history behind Shula [328], Halas [318] and Belichick [273 and counting].
Big Red’s 15 postseason wins are 6th-most in history and within range of Landry [20], Shula [19], Gibbs [17] and Chuck Noll [16]. Belichick has 31.
If Reid coaches the full six years of the contract, he will have coached exactly the same number of years with the Chiefs as he did with the Eagles.
He would also become only the 8th coach in NFL history to coach at 68 years old.
“I love Kansas City and the people," Reid said. "Our fans are phenomenal, our ownership is phenomenal, and Clark [owner Clark Hunt] does it the right way. And I’ve been blessed to be around Mark [Donovan, team president] and Brett Veach, [trainer] Rick Burkholder, [PR director] Ted Crews. These are all people I knew before I got here and it’s a good situation.”
Interesting to note that Beach, Donovan and Burkholder were all with Reid in Philadelphia.
So were the cheeseburgers.
