Eagles injury report gives hint about plan vs. Cowboys

When the Eagles practiced on Wednesday afternoon, they had just one of their starting offensive linemen on the field.

Jordan Mailata was all that’s left.

Meanwhile, Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson missed practice on the injury report and Jason Kelce and Nate Herbig are on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Eagles play in just a few days in a game against the Cowboys that won’t mean much for seeding.

So let’s read between the lines here a little bit. Sure, earlier this week, Nick Sirianni said he hadn’t yet made up his mind about whether or not he’d rest some key starters against the Cowboys. Then a dozen Eagles went on the COVID list. And now nearly the entire starting offensive line just missed the only non-walkthrough practice of the week.

And if the offensive line doesn’t play, then it’s probably safe to assume Jalen Hurts won’t be out there either. Heck, he’s still listed as limited with that ankle injury. All of a sudden, we’re starting to see what Saturday evening might look like.

Anyway, here’s the full injury report from Wednesday:

Did not participate: Landon Dickerson (thumb), Lane Johnson (knee, rest), Miles Sanders (hand)

Limited: Shaun Bradley (stinger), Jalen Hurts (ankle)

Full: Quez Watkins (knee), Jack Anderson (illness)

The good news from this list is that Bradley returned to practice after being listed as DNP on Tuesday. Bradley was in a fender bender on his way to the complex on Saturday and was held out against Washington as a precaution.

Sanders has already been ruled out this week with a broken hand but the Eagles are hoping he’ll be able to play in the playoffs.

Without many of their offensive linemen, the Eagles OL on Wednesday during position drills looked like this (left to right): Mailata, Sua Opeta, Brett Toth, Anderson, Le’Raven Clark.

As a reminder, here are the Eagles on the COVID list who missed practice on Wednesday: Fletcher Cox, Jason Kelce, Dallas Goedert, Rodney McLeod, Avonte Maddox, Alex Singleton, Nate Herbig, Boston Scott, Genard Avery, Jordan Howard, Marcus Epps, Jack Stoll.
