NBC Universal, Inc. The Washington Commanders defeated the Detroit Lions in the divisional playoff to advance to the NFC Championship for the first time in 33 years.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play in another conference championship game, but the Detroit Lions won’t.

The first day of Divisional Round action in the 2025 NFL playoffs saw one No. 1 seed advance and the other get bounced from the postseason in stunning fashion.

Patrick Mahomes and Co. kicked things off Saturday by taking down the No. 4 Houston Texans 23-14 at home. The victory booked Kansas City’s seventh consecutive trip to the AFC Championship Game, as Andy Reid's team now sits just two wins away from a historic Super Bowl three-peat.

The Lions, meanwhile, were seeking a second straight NFC Championship Game appearance, and just third overall, but Jayden Daniels and the No. 6 Washington Commanders had other plans. Washington forced five turnovers and put up over 40 points on the road in a shocking 45-31 upset of Detroit, securing the franchise’s first conference title game berth since its 1991 Super Bowl season.

The wild-card Commanders will be on the road again for the NFC Championship Game, while the top-seeded Chiefs will host the AFC title game. So, who will their opponents be?

Here’s how to watch Sunday’s Divisional Round games:

What NFL playoff games are today?

Sunday's action will start in the NFC as the No. 2 Philadelphia Eagles host the No. 4 Los Angeles Rams. This will be a rematch from Week 12 when Saquon Barkley racked up over 300 yards from scrimmage as Philadelphia ran away with a 37-20 road win.

Both the Eagles and Rams are coming off dominant defensive performances. Philadelphia's top-ranked defense forced four turnovers in a 22-10 win over the No. 7 Green Bay Packers, while Los Angeles recorded nine sacks and two turnovers in a 27-9 neutral-site thrashing of the 14-win No. 5 Minnesota Vikings.

The winner of Eagles-Rams will host the Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.

The final game of the Divisional Round will feature the top two MVP contenders as Lamar Jackson and the No. 3 Baltimore Ravens visit Josh Allen and the No. 2 Buffalo Bills. Both teams rolled to decisive Wild Card Round victories, with Buffalo beating the No. 7 Denver Broncos 31-7 and Baltimore taking down the AFC North rival No. 6 Pittsburgh Steelers 28-14.

Baltimore has a chance to reach a second straight conference championship game, while Buffalo is looking to snap a string of three straight Divisional Round exits. With Detroit and Houston eliminated, the Bills are now the last remaining playoff team that has never hoisted the Lombardi Trophy.

The Chiefs' current streak of AFC title game appearances includes victories over Baltimore and Buffalo. Kansas City beat the Ravens in Baltimore last season and defeated Buffalo at home in the 2020-21 season.

After defeating the Houston Texans in a divisional round on Saturday. The Chiefs are headed to the AFC Championship game for the 7th straight year.
