What are the betting odds to win NFL MVP in 2023?
Patrick Mahomes entered the season favored to win his third MVP in six years. The reigning regular season and Super Bowl MVP dominated in 2022, leading the NFL in passing yards (5,250), passing touchdowns (41) and QBR (77.6). He's been bumped from the top of the MVP favorites after an up-and-down season, by his standards, where he has the Chiefs at 8-5.
Jalen Hurts, alongside Mahomes, had been among the favorites for the award all season. Hurts has 31 total touchdowns (19 passing, 12 rushing), but his stock has taken a hit after his Eagles suffered blowout losses against the 49ers and Cowboys in Week 13 and 14, respectively.
So, if the favorite isn't Mahomes or Hurts, who is it? Purdy and Prescott.
The 49ers quarterback was flawless in Philly in Week 13, completing 19 of 27 passes for 314 yards and four touchdowns. He followed that up with two more touchdowns and 368 passing yards in a win over the Seahawks. On the season, the second-year QB has 25 passing touchdowns, seven interceptions and 3,553 passing yards. While he's playing with a loaded cast of skill players in a quarterback-friendly offense, there's no denying how good Purdy has played to this point.
Prescott received another bump in Week 14 after defeating the Eagles. He went 24 of 39 for 271 yards and two touchdowns in the victory, bringing his season-long totals to 3,505 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns and six interceptions. The Cowboys are now 10-3, tied with the 49ers and Eagles atop the NFC.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is also in the hunt for MVP. He has led Baltimore to an AFC-leading 10-3 record with 21 total touchdowns through 13 games.
Several other quarterbacks -- including Josh Allen and Tua Tagovailoa -- remain in the mix. As far as non-quarterbacks, Tyreek Hill is making a legitimate case to be the first wide receiver to win MVP.
