Flyers Trade Prospal Back to TB for Two Picks and a Bag of Pucks

We were pretty sure that when the Flyers played their last playoff game this year, that Vinny Prospal had once again played his last game in Philly. As an unrestricted free agent, it was unlikely the Flyers would meet the market demand for Prospal, who played fairly well here and brought the best out of Danny Briere. Briere needs a dynamic linemate to play off of, and his scoring dropped after Gagne was lost. Prospal seemed to be the answer, but he disappeared down the stretch in the playoffs.

So, in exchange for a seventh rounder and a conditional pick, the Flyers sent Prospal back from whence he came, Tampa Bay. Prospal had said he wanted to play in a warm climate, one he could golf by day in. I guess everyone has his priorities, and if "play for a contender" isn't at the absolute top of the list, then he's not a good fit in a town and organization like this. Not judging... Jes sayin. The Lightning will still have to sign Prospal, but they get a jumpstart on the process now. It's good to see the Flyers get anything at all for a player that was on his way out.
