Watch: Philadelphia mayor, Sixers, Comcast leaders tout new South Philly arena plan

On Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker joined NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, Sixers owner Josh Harris, Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts, comic Wanda Sykes, Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson and others to tout the new plan for the Sixers to partner with the Flyers and Comcast to build a new South Philadelphia arena rather than a Sixers-led Center City arena. Following Parker’s new conference, Chinatown advocates who fought against the Center City arena plan then offered their reactions to getting what they wanted with no new arena in the heart of the city.
