JoJo Romero's epic entrance from the bullpen

Nobody in South Philly has crushed a can with this much enthusiasm since The Sandman.

In a memorable sight Tuesday that you can check out above, Phillies rookie left-hander JoJo Romero chugged a Red Bull and gave the can a forearm crush before jogging in from the bullpen.

Romero, who turned 24 last week, proceeded to pitch two scoreless innings in relief of Jake Arrieta in the Phillies’ 4-1 win over the Mets. He entered with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth and got out of the jam with one pitch, inducing a double-play ball from Wilson Ramos, the slowest runner in the majors.

In nine appearances this season, Romero has a 2.89 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with more than a strikeout per inning. Lefties are 2 for 16 against him.

Relieving is new to Romero but he’s thrived and definitely looks like a keeper. His velocity has increased out of the ‘pen and he’s been one of the few Phillies pitchers to seize a role.

His fastball has averaged 95.5 mph and his changeup has held hitters to 2 hits in 14 at-bats.
