Another World Series champ throwing out Game 5 first pitch

Just as they've done through the first four home playoff games, the Phillies have absolutely nailed their Game 5 first pitch choice.

Jayson Werth, the right field staple during the Phils' 2008 World Series title chase, is returning to Philly on Sunday afternoon to throw out the first pitch before the Phillies take on the Padres in Game 5 of the NLCS.

The Phillies will either have a 3-1 lead or the series will be tied at two games apiece. Either way, Werth will be a welcome sight.

The Phillies have had Shane Victorino, Pat Burrell, Matt Stairs, and Ryan Howard throw out first pitches so far. It's been a who's who of that 2008 World Series team.

Following Ryan Howard isn't easy, but Werth was a playoff hero in his own right here in Philly.

Werth hit .309 with a .969 OPS across that 14-game 2008 title run, hitting two home runs, seven doubles, and a triple and driving in four RBI en route to the world title.

Werth spent four fruitful years with the Phillies, a stretch that featured two different World Series runs. Hopefully he brings that late-October juju to Citizens Bank Park on Sunday.
